REPORT: LAF unit arrests man suspected of kidnapping fruit shop owner

A Lebanese Armed Forces unit in Brital arrested on Thursday a man identified by his initials as A.Q.T. on the backdrop of kidnapping Palestinian national Mohammad Jaber from the Khraybeh town in eastern Baalbek.

Earlier, Jaber's colleagues and relatives staged a sit-in at the vegetable market in the region of Qob Elias, where the latter owns several fruit shops.

The protesters called on the political parties and the region’s tribes to deploy efforts in order to release Mohammad Jaber, “since he is not involved in politics and does not belong to any party,” as they said.

The protesters also held the abductors responsible for his health and safety, threatening to escalate their movements.

Jaber was kidnapped two days ago by unidentified assailants from outside his farm located in the town of al-Khraybeh in the Baalbek-Hermel province.
