REPORT: Al-Masri family releases two men kidnapped in retaliation for Arsal captives
Two men from the border town of Arsal were released after being kidnapped for three days by armed men from the al-Masri family to press the release of soldier Ali Zeid al-Masri, who is being held captive with other soldiers and policemen by Islamist gunmen.

Hassan Fleiti and Abdallah al-Breidi were handed over to the head of Hezbollah's Juristic Committee, Sheikh Mohammed Yazbek, in the presence of Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali al-Meqdad.

In turn, SheikhYazbek handed them over to a General Security delegation in the Bekaa Valley town of HorTaala.

Al-Masri family hails from the Shiite Bekaa town of Brital, while the two men are from the Sunnite dominated town of Arsal.

The abduction came following the beheading of a Shiite soldier by Islamist gunmen who overran Arsal earlier in August.

Fighters from the Islamic State along with gunmen from the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front clashed with the Lebanese army and took with them hostages from the military and the Internal Security Forces.

The jihadists beheaded two of their captives and have threatened to kill the rest of them.

On Wednesday, families of Arsal kidnapped troops staged a sit-in in Beirut's Martyrs' Square, erecting a tent to demand the release of their loved ones.
