Relatives of the people who went missing during Lebanon's civil war staged a protest near the Grand Serail, to call on the concerned authorities to hand over the files of the official Commission of Inquiry formed in the year 2000 to probe into the case.
The Lebanese cabinet rejected the State Consultative Council’s decision which grants plaintiffs the right to obtain a copy of the complete dossier on the investigations carried out by the official Commission of Inquiry set up to find out the fate of all those abducted or missing.
Successive Lebanese governments have always pledged to follow up on the issue of civil-war-era missing persons, and give answers and support to their families.
