REPORT: President election session adjourned until October 09
The parliament adjourned on Tuesday the 13th session aimed at electing a new president until the 9th of October due to lack of quorum.

Earlier, Lebanese Forces MP Antoine Zahra expressed his regret over the failure to elect a new head of state, stating that the head of the presidency is being severed at the hands of those who are unmasked, in reference to rival political camps.

On another note, MP Zahra said from parliament that an agreement pertaining to the series of ranks and salaries may soon be reached.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum after Michel Sleiman's mandate ended on May 25 with rival political blocs still divided over a new leader.

Last year, the parliament extended its mandate to November 2014 citing security reasons as the motive.

As for the pay scale, Former PM Najib Mikati's cabinet endorsed the new wage hike for public employees in 2012, ending a long dispute that had triggered several sit-ins and strikes held by the Union Coordinating Committee.

Former President Michel Sleiman signed the decree mid-June 2013 and it was referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committees for further examination; however, the law was never passed to parliament.
