REPORT: Hezbollah SG Nasrallah says Resistance on high alert in South Lebanon despite regional unrest
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered on Tuesday a speech as thousands rallied in Beirut's Dahieh region and other southern towns to mark the Ashoura religious ritual.

"The Resistance in Lebanon has been always watching over the border with Palestine," Nasrallah said, noting that Hezbollah remains on high alert despite of the incidents taking place in the region.

"Israeli threats of another war on Lebanon do not stem from their power," he said, adding "the continuous warnings reflect the Israelis' fear, concern and disappointment".

"What happened in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia yesterday, as well as in Iraq and Pakistan a few days ago proves that the aggressors are violent but weak," Nasrallah added.

Hezbollah SG also slammed the construction of more Israeli settlements and the closure of al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, saying "Zionists are taking advantage of the unrest in the Islamic world to reach their goals".

Nasrallah also called on Muslims to unite to protect the holy Muslim site, the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, against what he said was an Israeli threat.

''This is not scare mongering or exaggerating, there is a real and serious danger facing this mosque and this holy site. And this is the responsibility of all the Muslims world-wide, not just the residents of Jerusalem alone or the people of Palestine alone or the Arabs alone, it is responsibility of all the Muslims in the world. It would be the ultimate catastrophe and shame to happen upon the one billion people of Muslims to have one of their holiest sites and blessed mosques to be desecrated or Judaized or destroyed,'' he said, speaking via video link to thousands of supporters who gathered in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Ashoura marks the commemoration of Shi'ites to the slaying of Prophet Mohammad's grandson Hussein at the battle of Kerbala in AD 680.

During the ritual, Shi'ites are known to beat their heads in a show of grief to the suffering of Imam Hussein.
