REPORT: Patriarch Rai from Australia: Terrorist organizations defame religions, including Islam

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai met on Wednesday with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abott as he continued his pastoral visit to Sydney.

During his meeting with Abott, Rai stressed that “terrorist organizations are against religions, including Islam.”

Rai called on Australia to have a larger role in helping Lebanon to end the Syrian refugee crisis, which is draining Lebanon's resources, as he said.

For his part, the Australian PM said that he is “closely” following up on the situation in Lebanon and the region.

The patriarch traveled to Australia at the end of October on a two-week official visit.
