REPORT: Sheikh Hamzah Hommos meets abducted son in Arsal’s barren range
Sheikh Hamzah Hommos met on Thursday with his son Wael Hommos, one of the Lebanese troops who were kidnapped by the Nusra Front, in Arsal’s barren range.      

Hamzah paid the visit upon the initiative of Abou Malek al-Talli, the emir of the Nusra Front in Qalamoun, who stressed that all captive soldiers will meet their families, wives and children in the next few days.     

The meeting was held between Wael and his father Hamzah after the latter received a phone call from Abou Malek al-Talli who asked him to head to Arsal along with the soldier’s wife.     

The hostage troops and policemen were captured when jihadists from the Nusra Front and the Islamic State militant groups briefly overran the border town of Arsal in August and engaged in fierce battles with the Lebanese army.              

Four captives have so far been executed, and the jihadists have threatened to kill the remaining hostages unless there is a deal to free Islamist prisoners in Lebanon.
