REPORT: Shattered dreams: Children of migrant workers in Lebanon

A recent decision issued by the Lebanese General Security aims at denying residency permit renewals for a number of low-wage foreign workers who have had children in Lebanon and for their children as well.

According to a study conducted by Insan Association titled “Shattered dreams: Children of Migrants in Lebanon,” the new General Security’s directive violates Lebanon’s commitment with the International Law and with the Lebanese Law, which does not allow the deportation of migrant workers, unless under certain circumstances that are not clear in these cases.
