REPORT: Lebanon bids farewell to Sergeant Ali Al-Bazzal

Lebanon bade farewell on Friday to Sergeant Ali Al-Bazzal near the military hospital in Badaro.

The Al-Nusra Front armed men handed over on Thursday (April 02) the body of Lebanese policeman Ali al-Bazzal, who was executed last year, to the Muslim Scholars Association in the northern Qalamoun region.

Last December, the al-Nusra Front said that it had shot dead the policeman “to avenge the arrest of Islamic militants' wives and children.”

Al-Bazzal was among Lebanese troops kidnapped by jihadists from the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State group in August when they overran the border town of Arsal. Three other troops have also been executed.
