REPORT: Families of Arsal abducted troops demand clarifications over hostages transfer to Syria’s Raqqa

Nizam Mgheit, the brother of military hostage Ibrahim Mgheit urged on Tuesday the concerned sides to submit clarifications over reports stating that the Arsal abducted soldiers held by the Islamic State group were transferred to Syria’s Raqqa.

Mgheit called on the Lebanese government to task the mediators to bring a new video depicting the abducted troops within one week.

“We will take escalatory steps should our demands not be met,” Mgheit concluded by saying.

On Thursday, the Al-Nusra Front armed men handed over the body of Lebanese policeman Ali al-Bazzal, who was executed last year, to the Muslim Scholars Association in the northern Qalamoun region.

Al-Bazzal was among Lebanese troops kidnapped by jihadists from the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State group in August when they overran the border town of Arsal. Three other troops have also been executed.
