Prime Minister Tammam Salam casted his vote during the election of the members of the Islamic Supreme Council at Dar al-Fatwa, stressing that “there is a consensual atmosphere in the election of the new council in Beirut and across Lebanon.”
In this regard, Salam noted that “moderation is an essential element, on which we rely in our journey to strengthen our religion,” adding that he seeks agreement within Islam, so that this agreement would reflect on all other affairs in Lebanon.
For his part, Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Abdel Latif Darian said that Dar al-Fatwa and the premiership are in complete understanding in a bid to serve the interests of the Muslims and the Lebanese people in general.
The Islamic Supreme Council elections kicked off earlier on Sunday across the Lebanese governorates.
