The hunger strike being undertaken by activists is still ongoing outside the Ministry of Environment for the eleventh consecutive day despite consensus being reached on a solution for the waste manage crisis. Activist Waref Sleiman reiterated on Friday that the protesters’ main demand is the resignation of Environment Minister Mohammad Mashnouq. Several activists started a hunger strike on Thursday (September 03) outside the Environment Ministry’s building in Beirut to press for Minister Mohammad Mashnouq's resignation. The protesters set up tents on the pavement facing the building. The move came two days after riot police cleared dozens of "You Stink “activists who had occupied the environment ministry to press the minister to resign over his failure to deal with the unprecedented waste management crisis.
