REPORT: Truck drivers continue sit-in at Jeita roundabout, vow escalation

Truck drivers continued on Monday their sit-in for the fifth consecutive day at Jeita roundabout, calling for the reauthorization of sand quarries in Keserwan mountainous regions.

This comes after the National Council for Quarries (NCQ) deemed the said quarries as illegitimate and in violation of the law.

In this context, the protesters prevented any truck transporting gravel from passing through, as they narrowed the main road in Jeita causing heavy traffic jam.
