REPORT: Types of temporary marriages
The injustice exercised against women in Lebanon continues due to the current personal status laws.

In this regard, there are several types of temporary marriages that exist only in the Islamic sects, according to the data made available by KAFA (Enough) Violence & Exploitation association.

Among these marriages: the customary marriage or non-official marriage, Misyar marriage (sunni sect), defined as defined as an official marital "relationship" between a man and a woman who do not live together, it has no certain date for divorce, and it is up to the man to divorce his wife whenever, or if ever, he feels like doing so.

A third type is the pleasure marriage (Shiite sect) which is done only for a specified period of time, and ends at the expiration date without divorce.
