REPORT: Truck owners return to the street, block Nahr al-Kaleb highway
Truck owners blocked on Monday the traffic on a highway connecting Beirut to the city of Jounieh to protest authorities’ failure to fulfill their promises.

The owners parked their trucks on the side of the highway, causing heavy traffic between Nahr al-Kalb and Beirut road.

The security forces members used later on a crane to lift six of the trucks that blocked Nahr El-Kalb highway, which contributed to partially reopening the road.

The drivers claim that despite that some of them have the required permits to extract sand from quarries and sell it to construction firms, they are still being prevented from doing so.

They also argue that buses run by Syrians pose a serious risk and competition for them.
