Introduction to the evening news 29-09-2012

The fires that destroyed Aleppo’s old souks sounded the alarm on many levels. The incident is not a simple destruction of a world heritage site. It is the past screaming a distress call to stop the madness created by the dictatorships.

In the future, no one will remember President Bashar Assad name and his army, and the names of the Free Syrian Army lieutenants won’t be remembered either. However, the generations who will follow them will surely remember that a city named Aleppo was on the Syrian map.

While the clashes continue in Syria, the electoral campaigns begin in Lebanon. After visiting Jezzine, General Michel Aoun began a 2-day tour in the towns of Byblos.  

Aoun opened fire on his opponents and said: “the electoral law can’t save them or their allies. They will lose the elections even with the 60’s law.”

Meanwhile, Lebanese Forces supports gathered at the martyrs cemeteries at Our Lady of Elige to announce their refuse of MP Aoun’s visit and described it as “provocative”.

In another context, a Lebanese girl will be crowned Miss Lebanon 2012 tonight.
