Introduction to the evening news 04-10-2012

Syria’s apology to Turkey seems to have saved the day and the region from further escalation.

This as Turkey was at the pinnacle of garnering parliamentary consensus for further military operations against Syria, even whilst in the midst of firing retaliatory attacks at the country for having launched a mortar shell into its territory on Wednesday.

An apology on the part of Syria seems to have halted all of Turkey’s escalatory steps.

However, what will it take to calm the Iranian street following the collapse of its currency?

Trade traffic remains slow in Tehran’s markets today, with more details on the topic throughout the news bulletin.

As for Lebanon, it was the lack of quorum at the parliamentary committees meeting that seemed to have brought things to a standstill for today, with a date scheduled for next Thursday to discuss the much disputed electoral law.
