Introduction to the evening news 08-10-2012
This week's agenda seems to be full on many levels.

This will be week of strikes; today and tomorrow comes the turn of the Syndicate of the Lebanese University’s Contractual Teachers; on Wednesday, the Trade Union Coordinating Body, and on Thursday, the Syndicate of Water workers in Beirut and Mount Lebanon. All is left is Friday.

All these movements come in light of this week’s cabinet sessions; the 1st session was held on Monday while the 2nd will be held on Wednesday amidst the Prime Minister’s astonishment at the strike planned by the Trade Union Coordinating Body on Wednesday given that the cabinet pledged to implement the ranks and salaries series as soon as funding sources are available.

Tension among Syndicates was accompanied by political tension resulting from al-Arabiya’s report on Hezbollah's role in the assassination of late MP Gebran Toueini.

In response, Hezbollah denied any involvement in the assassination.

Tensions have not spared north Lebanon as heavy gunfire from the Syrian side reached al-Abboudiyeh border crossing in Akkar.
