Higher Council of Defense extends general mobilization for six months

The Higher Council of Defense decided on Friday to extend the general mobilization for six months in order to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

The Council also tasked Caretaker Minister of Health Hamad Hassan with continuing his contacts with companies that manufacture Covid-19 vaccines to secure vaccines for citizens, while allowing the private sector to also secure vaccines through collective and / or sectoral initiatives, and that under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, and also to complete the necessary communications and procedures to avoid any shortage of oxygen, according to the required and urgent needs.

This as Caretaker Minister of Finance was tasked, in coordination with Caretaker Minister of Health and the Central Bank, to follow up on securing the necessary liquidity in hard currency for companies that import medical supplies and equipment.

As for the Beirut port, the Council tasked Caretaker Minister of Energy Raymond Ghajar with taking the necessary measures in coordination with the relevant ministries and institutions, especially the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission to store highly dangerous materials, after withdrawing them from oil facilities or any other places, in addition to instructing the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission to complete communications to find a final solution for the waste of radioactive energy stored at the headquarters of the Commission while taking into account the decisions issued by the Higher Council of Defense on 01/21/2021.
