REPORT: Qortbawi: Murderer of Roland Chbeir to be executed

 
Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi said on Wednesday that judicial authorities are continuing investigations in crimes that shook the country.

Qortbawi added that judicial authorities do not issue daily bulletins regarding decisions related to crimes stressing that murder crimes are referred from the investigative judge to the accusatory body which in turn turns back to the criminal court.


In this regard, Minister Qortbawi expressed his discomfort regarding the increasing number of crimes in Lebanon.

Speaking to LBCI, Qortbawi said that the investigative judge issued an indictment in the murder case of the young man Roland Chbeir whereby he called for the murderer's execution.

As for the murder of Myriam Achkar, Qortbawi said that trials in the case continue at the Criminal Court of Mount Lebanon.

The Minister promised the Lebanese people that such cases will not be placed aside; they will be followed until final decisions are issued.

It is worth noting that fighting crimes is one of the state’s responsibilities, and drugs are the first cause for crime commitment in Lebanon.
