REPORT: The Independence flag also has its own story

The story of Lebanon's independence began with the replacement of the French Mandate's flag by the current Lebanese flag.

In this context, Sheikha Genevieve Gemayel and Ms. Tamimi Mardam Bek designed the current flag on a piece of house curtain and took it to St Mansour Lazarieh Convent in Ajaltoun, then to the house of Habib Bakhos al-Mdawar, father of Georgette and Margo, where they sewed and embroidered the first Lebanese flag.

The Independence Flag was signed by the independence heroes and then transported from its "birthplace" Ajaltoun to the Robert Mouawad Gallery in Beirut.
