REPORT: Car bomb explodes in Hay el-Sellom, no casualties

A bomb that was lodged under a navy Honda (plate number 155324/S) and owned by Lebanese citizen Abbas Mazloum, exploded on Monday in Hay el-Sellom neighborhood in Beirut’s Southern Suburb.

Several cars were damaged in the explosion but no casualties were reported.

The LAF and the security forces rushed to the scene and enhanced security measures around the site. The car owner was arrested for interrogation.

Military Judge Kamal Nassar, commissioned by Lebanon's Prosecutor Judge Hatem Madi, visited the location along with military engineers.

Later in the night, the Lebanese Army issued a statement and said that the blast occurred when a small device that was placed under a vehicle exploded, stressing that investigations were launched to reveal the incident’s circumstances.

The explosion seems to have no terrorism motives behind it, according to preliminary information.
