REPORT: Saudi law acquits father who killed his daughter

A Saudi 6-year-old girl was brutally killed by her father Fihan al-Ghamidi in November.

When Lama was rushed to the hospital, she was suffering from a brain hemorrhage as a result of a skull fracture in addition to bruises and burn marks all over her body.

The medical report did not confirm that she was sexually abused despite the fact that she was beaten and burnt with a stick and an electric wire on sensitive areas of her body.

After her father confessed of having committed the crime, he was released and sentenced to pay a ransom.

This case spurred controversy in Saudi Arabia and on Twitter where activists voiced their anger, criticizing the Saudi Judiciary and its failure to punish Lama’s killer, alluding that “the beard” became an immunity from accountability.
