Introduction to the evening news 01-02-2013

 
A new bloody scene took place today, and the victim is once again the Lebanese Army.               

Arresting a wanted person in Arsal named Khaled Ahmad Hmaid was turned into clashes leaving a LAF Captain, another personnel, and the wanted person killed.
          
Conflicting reports emerged pertaining to Hmaid's connection with the armed Syrian opposition, but what is obvious is that the latter was being pursued on arrest warrants related to terrorism and selling arms.                          

Politically, Former PM Saad Hariri's initiative regarding the electoral law did not decrease the gap between March14 forces.            

As for the law of civil marriage, both Hariri and President Sleiman agreed on it giving an extra push towards legalizing this marriage in addition to the agreement of most March14 forces on it.                

Parallel to this, and in light of waiting to refer the series of ranks and salaries to the parliament, the Union Coordination Committee announced an open-ended strike effective as of February 19th.
