REPORT: LBCI reveals leads to the Arsal incident official report

 
A week after the Arsal ambush in which two army members were killed, sources reported to LBCI that the LAF collected all the information regarding the incident’s circumstances and managed to identify 80 people who were involved in it.  

According to the sources, over 100 gunmen participated in the ambush in which Major Pierre Bachaalany and Adjutant Ibrahim Zahram were massacred and several army members were wounded.

The sources added that some of the militants belong to fundamentalist groups and were in contact with persons on the Syrian side while conducting the assault against the Lebanese Army.

The sources confirmed that one of the suspects was arrested and admitted that he has participated in the crime, revealing names of other suspects and confirming that he was aware that the persons he and his companions have attacked were Lebanese Army soldiers. The suspect also reported that the army members who were on a mission in the town of Arsal on Firday February 1st received all several gun wounds.  

The sources stressed that the LAF will pursue all the suspects involved in the incident, emphasizing that extraordinary security measures were taken to isolate the border town of Arsal from Syria and that all the troops deployed in the area were given direct orders to immediately respond to fire sources in case they were targeted while conducting raids that are expected to take place soon.
