REPORT: Al-Assir:I will stand before Sidon’s police department when Nasrallah gets tried

In response to State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr who called on Sidon’s police department to summon Sheikh of Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque Ahmad al-Assir and ask him about the weapons he was carrying along with his partisans in Sidon yesterday, al-Assir’s office issued a statement stressing that the Sheikh refuses to stand before the police so long as Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is not punished for his crimes. “When Nasrallah gets tried for the crimes he committed, al-Assir will stand before Sidon’s police.”     

The residents of the Mustapha al-Dindachli building kicked off their protest movement before being interrupted by their neighbor who lives on the 6th floor. He reportedly took the protestors to his apartment and to the roof to deny claims that the roof was turned into a rampart. However, the building’s residents considered that he was trying to mislead them and divert attention from the 5th floor apartment.     

In contrast, concerned authorities announced that the 5th floor apartment was locked and that no one was allowed to enter it. The region’s residents revealed that there was another similar apartment in a different building facing the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque and belonging to the same group.  

In this framework, sources close to Hezbollah told LBCI that the party is not involved in this issue and that apartments are occupied by students and contain no weapons.   

Meanwhile, supporters of al-Assir handed LBCI a memory card they found in the building's entrance. The card includes the name of Sheikh al-Assir and the nicknames of young men living in the building, as well as location names and ammunition types.         

Al-Assir stressed that that this group aims to harm him and his partisans, stressing that they are not even allowed to defend themselves.      

On another note, in response to Interior Minister Marwan Charbel who said that security forces were not allowed to enter the apartments to inspect them, al-Assir said: If these apartments contained no weapons, then how come over 16 families signed a petition calling to empty these apartments?
