REPORT: Highway project may destroy old houses in Ashrafieh

A new highway is set to be built inside the residential area of Mar Mikhael, connecting Charles Helo avenue leading to the port, with Charles Malek avenue in Ashrafieh.

Accordingly, civil society activists concerned with the protection of the Lebanese heritage launched a campaign against this project through social media platforms, denouncing the fact that such a project will eliminate what is left of the old houses and green spaces in the said region.

This report will provide a closer look at this project and will expose the point of view of the activists and the alternatives they have suggested in this regard.
