REPORT: Newborn abandoned for suffering a birth defect

10 day-old newborn baby Nejmeh Assaf was found on Thursday inside a bag abandoned on the side of the road in Tamnin, with a medical bracelet around her wrist and a piece of paper with a message urging whoever finds her to feed her.

The ten-day old infant was then transported to the hospital in the town of Riyaq, where she will undergo a series of reconstructive surgeries, since she suffers from a birth defect in her upper lip.

In this context, the director of the hospital said that they did their best to help the child and save her form death, adding that they contacted the health minister who will follow up on this case.
