EU condemns “excessive violence” in Egypt

The EU condemned on Friday “the excessive violence” used by the Egyptian authorities against protesters, urging the military council to hand over power to civilians immediately.

"The European Union is deeply concerned about the critical situation in Egypt”, said the spokesperson for EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton, calling for restraint from all sides.
