New Japanese sanctions against Iran

Japan has decided to extend its sanctions against Iran, after similar moves by other countries to step up international measures against Tehran's nuclear program.

According AP reporters, the Japanese Government has added 106 organizations, one individual and three Iranian banks to its sanction list. The move will not add to restrictions on imports of crude oil from Iran, which is the fourth-biggest oil supplier to Japan.

Last year, Japan imposed new sanctions against Iran, including an assets freeze on people and entities linked to its nuclear program and tighter restrictions on financial transactions. Japan also says it will suspend any new oil and gas investments in Iran.

Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful, but the West suspects it is developing weapons.
