Blinken urges freedom of navigation in south and east China seas

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the importance of preserving freedom of navigation in the South and East China Seas, calling for maintaining the status quo in the Taiwan Strait where Beijing has conducted extensive military maneuvers.

Speaking before Southeast Asian ministers prior to talks in Jakarta, he said, "We must ensure freedom of navigation in the South and East China Seas and stability across the Taiwan Strait."
