40,000 evacuated in flood-hit Myanmar

Floods and flash floods caused by seasonal rains have resulted in the death of five people in Burma and forced authorities to evacuate 40,000 individuals, officials announced.

Burma experiences heavy rains during similar periods each year, but extreme weather events have been observed across various parts of the world in recent weeks, with scientists stating that these have intensified due to climate change.
