Macron: ‘We must work to achieve a ceasefire’ between Israel and Hamas

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Thursday, during the opening of the humanitarian conference on Gaza in Paris, to "work towards achieving a ceasefire" between Israel and the Hamas movement. 

Macron stated, "In the near future, we must work to protect civilians. For this reason, there is a need for a rapid humanitarian truce, and we must work to achieve a ceasefire."  

He added, "This must become possible."
