BRICS leaders call for 'immediate and permanent humanitarian ceasefire' in Gaza

The BRICS group, in the concluding statement of the extraordinary virtual summit hosted in Johannesburg, called for an "immediate and permanent humanitarian ceasefire leading to the cessation of hostilities" in Gaza. 

In the statement, they affirmed, "We support regional and international efforts aimed at achieving an immediate cessation of hostile actions, protecting civilians, and providing humanitarian assistance."
