Russia rejects US proposal for release of two detained Americans

The United States announced on Tuesday that Russia has rejected a new proposal for the release of two Americans, namely Wall Street Journal journalist Ivan Gershkovich and former US Navy officer Paul Whelan.

Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the US Department of State, informed journalists, "We have presented several proposals, including an important one in recent weeks and Russia rejected this proposal."
