Macron expresses 'deep concern' over 'tragic' situation of Catholics in Gaza

French President Emmanuel Macron, in a phone call with the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem expressed his "deep concern" over the "tragic situation" of Catholic Christians in the Gaza Strip, where a woman and her daughter from the parish were "unjustly" killed by an Israeli soldier on December 16.

The Elysée Palace said in a statement that Macron conveyed to Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa in the call, which took place on Christmas Eve, his "deep concern about the tragic situation of the Latin community in Gaza," where "hundreds of civilians of all faiths (...) have been living under bombs and bullets for more than two months," offering his "condolences for the unjust killing of two parish members a few days ago."
