43 countries demand independent investigation into Navalny's death

On Monday, 43 countries called for an independent international investigation into the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, considering that Russian President Vladimir Putin bears full responsibility for it.

European Union Ambassador Lotte Knudsen told the UN Human Rights Council, citing a joint statement from 43 countries, "We are outraged by the death of Russian political opposition leader Alexei Navalny... Russia must allow an independent and transparent international investigation into the circumstances of his sudden death."
