UN refugee agency plans spending cuts despite rising displacement

A copy of the U.N. Refugee Agency’s budget on Monday showed that it plans to cut spending by about one-fifth to $8.5 billion, despite continued increases in displacement driven by crises such as the war in Sudan.

The document revealed that the Geneva-based agency intends to spend $8.5 billion in 2025, down from last year’s $10 billion budget, amid financial pressures.
