Al-Maliki urges Baathists to repent
Iraqi PM Nuri al-Maliki urged members of the dissolved Baath Party on Wednesday to distance themselves from the party after hundreds of alleged Baathists were arrested in Central and Southern Iraq.

During a meeting in Karbala, Maliki described the Baathists as “a villainous horde.”

The Iraqi PM urged the Baathists to repent and declare innocence before the concerned state apparatuses, “or else they will be subject to legal prosecution.”

Al-Maliki stressed that he is seeking to “build an Iraq devoid of dictatorship and the Saddamist Baath Party.”
