Families of Arsal abducted soldiers said on Tuesday that this period will be a period of silence from their part, declaring that they will reopen the Riad al-Solh road "as a holiday gift for the Lebanese people."

Earlier, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem called for maintaining full confidentiality in handling the issue of the abducted soldiers, stressing that the cabinet must assume full responsibility in this regard.

Following his meeting with the relatives of the abducted troops, Sheikh Qassem said that conducting negotiations through media outlets will harm the Lebanese hostages, adding that “the mediation efforts should be unified to reach positive results.”

“Hezbollah will deploy strong efforts in cooperation with the cabinet to help resolve the case,” he added.

In this context, Sheikh Qassem stated that the cabinet has the right to ask help from all mediators, but must remain solely responsible for the case.

The relatives of the hostages continued their tour and headed to Bkerke, where they met with Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai, who called on the cabinet to protect the kidnapped troops, and to handle this issue in a serious manner and finalize the prisoner swap deal.

Addressing the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front, Rai urged them to protect the soldiers "who were carrying out their duties, defending their country and citizens."

In this context, Rai noted that he will meet with Prime Minister Tammam Salam on Wednesday and tackle the issue during the discussions.
