Kanaan to LBCI: 1960’s law is unjust, must be changed to ensure fair representation for all

Change and Reform Bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan confirmed that the positions voiced by Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai upon his arrival to Beirut on Tuesday evening from Rome depicts a clear opposition to the 1960’s electoral law, adding that this law “is unjust and must be changed to ensure correct Christian representation.”

In an interview with Nharkom Said on LBCI, Kanaan emphasized that 25 Christian deputies are elected strictly through Muslim votes under the aforementioned law.

In his concluding remarks, Kanaan called on all March14 Christian members to head towards forming pressure to change the law in favor of correct representation.
