Zahra: Batroun hospital faces threat of closure
MP Antoine Zahra said on Tuesday that the Emile Bittar Batroun Hospital is facing the threat of closure since the Social Security Fund will only cover operating costs of the hospital until the end of this month.

"Despite an agreement with the Social Security Fund to hand over the hospital to whomever would like to run it from the private sector [...] no concrete steps have been taken in this regard yet," Zahra said.

"Now that [the Batroun Hospital] is an indispensable need that cannot withstand any compromise, and now that I have tackled the matter with the health minister who expressed full willingness to cooperate with any appropriate exit, I urge the prime minister to hold an urgent meeting [...] to find the most suitable solution," Zahra said in a statement he delivered at the Parliament.
