REPORT: Beirut Bar Association warns against security chaos
Head of the Beirut Bar Association Antonio al-Hashem said Monday that the assault, which was practiced against the lawyers last Friday, is unacceptable, pointing out that the suspects will be pursued within the limits of law.

In a press conference, al-Hashem said that the association is expecting the judiciary to take a decisive stance in terms of all the assaults taking place in the country.

“Through defending our colleagues who were brutally attacked, we are defending all the Lebanese people,” he added.

Al-Hashem said that the security chaos, which affected this time the lawyers, would destroy what is left of Lebanon’s stability.

Lawyers Zainab al-Hajj, Raed Hamdan, Zainab Dahboul and, Zaher Azouri, who is a member of the bar association’s governing council, were viciously beaten by armed men on Friday (February 5) as they made their way to attend a meeting in Beirut’s Ramlet al-Baida.

The armed men prevented the lawyers from entering the meeting and assaulted them.
