Charbel presides over sub-elections preparatory meeting

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel told representatives of 57 municipalities during a preparatory meeting on Saturday ahead of the May 6 sub-elections that they should block any official interference in the process.

Charbel announced that no election will be held for the municipality of Bireh so long as the displaced residents are still abroad, adding that the reasons behind the failure to hold elections for Taanayel are the same ones that foiled the 2010 elections.

The interior minister added that the security aspect of the elections to be held in Wadi Khaled as well as the particularity of the case have been taken into consideration.
