Four injured in overnight Tyre blast
An explosive device, targeting Nocean restaurant located in the top floor of a three-story building, rocked the southern city of Tyre Sunday night. The blast slightly injured two Lebanese workers named Hassan Jomaa and Ridah Awad and two Palestinian workers Yahia Hiajzi and Anwar Mustafa. The explosion also caused material damages as chairs and tables were blown into the street by the force of the explosion.

Sunday’s explosion damaged a McDonald fast food place located in the building’s ground floor as well as Spinneys supermarket whose windows were shattered. Several cars parked outside the building were also damaged by debris.

The Civil Defense and the Lebanese Red Cross rushed to the site to transfer the injured to a near-by hospital for treatment.

The LAF cordoned off the area forbidding citizens from approaching the site, while security forces opened an investigation to uncover the ins and outs of the incident.

A series of blasts, targeting liquor stores, rocked the city of Tyre in the past few months, raising questions about the brittle security situation in South Lebanon.
