Cabinet convenes, 36 items on the agenda

Wednesday’s cabinet session has convened at the Baabda Palace, with 36 items on its agenda, most prominently the overspending issue.

Prior to the session, President Sleiman met with Prime Minister Mikati to discuss several issues pertaining to the cabinet agenda and the latest events facing the country.

Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel clarified that the appointment of governors will be followed, adding that the appointment of the governor of Mount Lebanon is awaiting approval from the Civil Services Council.

For his part, Minister of Finance Mohammad Safadi said that he carries the 4.9 Trillion LBP proposition which covers spending for the month of June to today's session, and that the government is still bound to approve the budget.
