REPORT: Patriarch Rai from Baabda: We are waiting for results of deliberations

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai asserted on Tuesday that President Michel Aoun managed with his wisdom to absorb the current crisis.

“Everyone is waiting for the results of Aoun’s deliberations over Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s resignation,” Patriarch Rai said after meeting with Aoun in the Baabda Palace.

On another note, Patriarch Rai saluted Saudi Arabia, adding that he “heard distinguished words on Lebanon during his visit to KSA.”

Hariri shocked Lebanon on November 4 by resigning from the premiership in a statement from Saudi Arabia. His resignation, however, has not yet been approved by Aoun.

Hariri cited assassination plots and Hezbollah’s policies in Lebanon and the entire region as reasons behind his resignation.

President Aoun held talks on Monday with Lebanese political leaders over the future of Hariri's cabinet but gave no sign whether they discussed Hariri's demand that the country stay away of regional turmoil.
