President Michel Aoun said Tuesday that “Monday’s events, both on the political and security levels, harmed everyone,” and caused a decline in the political rhetoric to a point that is not appropriate to the Lebanese people.
He stressed that what happened on the ground is a “big mistake built on another mistake,” declaring his forgiveness to all those who offended him and his family.
In a statement, Aoun said that he looks forward for everyone to forgive each other, “because the nation is bigger than everyone, and mostly bigger than the political disputes that must not reach personal levels.”
The president said that all political leaders have a responsibility to face the many current challenges, including maintaining stability, security and national unity.
