Taiga Café reopens its doors after being sealed in drugs case

Taiga Café reopened its doors to the public after being sealed for three days following a raid conducted by the ISF’s Office of Drug Contro. The office seized 6kg of narcotics and arrested two workers at the café.      

While owners of the café refrained from speaking to the media, the attorney of LOCAL, the company investing Taiga Café, Sayed Fayyad, disclosed the details of the case.  

The ISF Directorate General – Public Relations Division earlier announced on Saturday that according to the Office of Drug Control in north Lebanon, three men sold and discharged narcotics. The office managed to arrest 2 Lebanese men at one of the cafés in the Batroun locality, and another Lebanese at his home in al-Qubba. 6kg of powdery substance were seized inside one of the arrested men’s locker room at his workplace.      

The Directorate pointed out that during investigations, one of the men arrested confessed he was trying to sell and discharge the seized powdery substance upon the request of one of the other arrested men, without knowing their source or quality.      

During investigations with the man who requested the sale of this substance, he confessed that he stole the seized powder from his father’s house. The father later confessed having received the seized substance about 6 months ago, adding that he received a down payment of $1,500 to pack it and make sure it is smuggled to Australia. He stressed that he had not yet smuggled the powder and had kept it at his house until his son stole it.
