UK, US ambassadors meet LAF Commander

UK ambassador to Lebanon Chris Rampling and US ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard met on Thursday with Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Major General Joseph Aoun.

Talks reportedly featured high over the security of the borders.

Following the meeting, Rampling hailed the achievements made by the army in protecting the Lebanese-Syrian border.

“It is because of this progress that we were able to amend the UK Travel Advice for Lebanon in December to include new regions,” he added.

He also reiterated the UK’s steadfast support to Lebanon, through social, economic, educational and humanitarian projects.

“In addition to more support to the Lebanese Armed Forces and the rest of security apparatuses,” Rampling stressed.

He concluded by saying that the Lebanese army remains the sole legitimate defender of Lebanon.
